Paint Your Own Goat Loaf is a small-group art workshop rooted in the farm itself. Guests begin by meeting the real Nigerian Dwarf goats of Celtic Valley, spending time with the animals whose odd little postures, expressions, colors, and personalities inspire the work.

Each participant receives an original 3D-printed “Goat Loaf” sculpture, a miniature goat tucked into its most compact, loaf-like form, designed by artist and Celtic Valley owner Alanna Bodman (BFA Illustration, SVA). Using acrylic paint and optional embellishments, you’ll develop your own version: naturalistic, folkloric, floral, fantastical, slightly absurd, or entirely unexpected.

The emphasis is on personal interpretation, making each Goat Loaf a small original artwork in its own right. Alanna is currently designing additional original sculpture blanks inspired by Celtic Valley’s other animals, with themed workshops planned around them, alongside more traditional drawing, painting, and observational art classes.

The annual Handcrafted Oktoberfest will be held October 10-11 at the historic Dutchess County Fairgrounds in Rhinebeck, NY. Rhinebeck’s first Oktoberfest at the fairgrounds brings together the handcrafted, artisanal and agricultural — from wearable fine craft and laudable fine art to the Hudson River Valley’s best brew, wine, specialty foods, apothecary goods and an abundance of harvest attractions. In addition to live craft demos and browsing rows of one-of-a-kind handmade furniture, jewelry, ceramics, glass, fiber art, and more, visitors will interact with farm animals, partake in an agri-venture center and pumpkin contest, ride a horse-drawn hay wagon, and watch pumpkin carving by the master of the craft. And, of course, no Oktoberfest would be complete without the season’s best beer, wine, spirits, gourmet specialties, and fresh Germanic food. Get your early bird discount tickets now!
