Found & Fixed @ Gallery 40 - An Upcycled Furniture Pop Up Shop
Gallery 40
40 Cannon Street
Poughkeepsie, NY
Found & Fixed Hudson Valley takes used pieces that might otherwise go to a landfill and gives them new life through repair, painting, and refinishing. In addition to taking on their own pieces, they also work with clients on commissioned work. Few of their pieces will be on display at Gallery 40.
Where possible, they use sustainable and eco-friendly products on the pieces such as non-toxic paint and strippers.
They are currently located in the industrial area of Poughkeepsie on Cottage Street. This pop up expo and show is their first experience with what it may be like to have a showroom.

D'Arcy Simpson Art Works Presents: Why Look? by Xan Peters
D'Arcy Simpson Art Works
409 Warren Street, Hudson, NY 12534, USA
Hudson, NY
The darkened halls of the Natural History Museum are places full of answers. We go there to seek context for our humanity through carefully constructed stories told by fossils, timelines, lingering artifacts and taxidermy. Some species come to life there–they become things of myth and legend. But some, probably most, never make it to the main halls. They are lost in obscurity, seemingly never to have lived–invisible ghosts of ancestors we never knew.

Xan Peters’ paintings rescue some of these species from their taxidermic prisons. He reveals their epic stories and shines a light (both figuratively and literally) on their short time on Earth. His paintings captivate, engage and encourage questions and connections. Why Look? asks the viewer to examine Nature in an art gallery–why look at nature here? What can we learn about our natural world when it comes to us as an artistic expression, free from the detachment of science?

Why Look? will be on view March 25- April 30th.

Handcrafted Oktoberfest at Rhinebeck
Dutchess County Fair Grounds
6550 Springbrook Ave Rte. 9
Rhinebeck, NY
The annual Handcrafted Oktoberfest will be held September 30th & October 1st, 2023 at the historic Dutchess County Fairgrounds in Rhinebeck, NY. Rhinebeck’s first Oktoberfest at the fairgrounds brings together the handcrafted, artisanal and agricultural — from wearable fine craft and laudable fine art to the Hudson River Valley’s best brew, wine, specialty foods, apothecary goods and an abundance of harvest attractions. In addition to live craft demos and browsing rows of one-of-a-kind handmade furniture, jewelry, ceramics, glass, fiber art, and more, visitors will interact with farm animals, partake in an agri-venture center and pumpkin contest, ride a horse-drawn hay wagon, and watch pumpkin carving by the master of the craft. And, of course, no Oktoberfest would be complete without the season’s best beer, wine, spirits, gourmet specialties, and fresh Germanic food. Get your early bird discount tickets now!

Saturday Sept 30, and Sunday October 1.
