Alanna Bodman    Clinton Corners, NY

Alanna Bodman is a Hudson Valley artist, illustrator, sculptor, and lifelong animal person whose work lives somewhere between fine art, traditional craft, folklore, and the barnyard.

A graduate of the School of Visual Arts with a BFA in Illustration, Alanna has worked across a wide range of media, including drawing, painting, sculpture, digital art, and more recently 3D sculpting and printing. Animals have always been at the heart of her work, not simply as subjects, but as individual characters with distinct personalities, expressions, histories, and relationships with people.

She is also the owner of Celtic Valley Carriage & Farm in Clinton Corners, NY, where her artistic life and her work with animals have increasingly grown together. Celtic Valley is home to horses, ponies, Nigerian Dwarf goats, a donkey, and other wonderfully opinionated creatures who frequently become models, inspiration, collaborators, and occasionally enthusiastic critics.

Through Celtic Valley, Alanna is developing a growing series of art experiences that combine hands-on creativity with meaningful interaction with animals. Her current workshops include “Paint Your Own Goat Loaf,” in which participants meet Celtic Valley’s real goats before painting an original miniature goat sculpture designed by Alanna. Each piece begins as her own sculptural design and is produced in small batches using 3D printing, then transformed by each participant into a completely individual work of art.

Her broader work draws heavily on animals, rural life, old stories, traditional practices, folklore, and the slightly strange beauty of things that feel handmade and lived-in. She is especially interested in creating artwork and experiences that feel approachable without being generic: work that can be whimsical and funny while still being thoughtfully designed and rooted in genuine artistic practice.

Future projects at Celtic Valley include additional sculptural collectibles, drawing and painting workshops, animal-based observational art, and classes that blend traditional art-making with the farm and its inhabitants.

Whether she is drawing a horse, sculpting an improbable goat, designing a new class, or working beside the animals that inspire much of her art, Alanna’s goal is the same: to create things with personality, a strong sense of place, and just enough oddness to make them memorable.
